Our Priority

Advocating for strong policies at the state & local level to facilitate greater technology and infrastructure investment.

COVID-19 Response

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the cable industry is committed to ensuring that Kentuckians remain connected during this unprecedented crisis. Our members are focused on providing superior network performance and evaluating how networks will handle the increased demand.

KBCA member companies have also announced new measures to expand internet access, especially for low-income households and families with students that are now learning from home. Additionally, every member company has signed the FCC’s Keep Americans Connected Pledge to reassure consumers that they will stay connected throughout the coronavirus outbreak.

Finally, member companies are working closely with federal, state and local government officials to share appropriate information and keep informed of new developments.

Driving Innovation

Kentucky’s broadband networks now provide gigabit speeds throughout the vast majority of the state. And the internet of tomorrow is in Kentucky today with speeds of up to 10 Gigabit expected for residential customers within just a few years.

The vast, robust network of opportunity made available to Kentuckians through our KBCA member companies is rooted in the commitment to be the leader in technology and innovation to benefit our customers and your needs at home, on the go, at work and play.

KBCA members understand: It’s customers first.

Our member companies stand with you, the customer, in support of policies and laws that foster the deployment of an open internet, free of the burden of rules and regulations that show up on your monthly bill as increased costs.

KBCA members won’t block, throttle or otherwise interfere with the customer experience to use your content as desired. Rather, KBCA members are building powerful networks through over $1.4 trillion in private investment since the mid-1990s to improve your digital experience and opportunities.

Investing in Infrastructure

Each year, Kentucky Broadband’s member companies invest in infrastructure to improve and expand Kentucky’s broadband network. In fact, cable is connecting more than 16 homes per day to broadband with a total of roughly 6,000 new homes estimated to be connected in 2020.

In addition, KBCA members deliver $5.2 Billion in economic activity in the state creating more than 33,000 direct and indirect jobs. These investments provide customers with the latest technology and infrastructure advancements. Kentucky’s broadband providers ensure availability, affordability and quality of fiber-rich networks that weave a strong thread through the fabric of our state’s economy.

Kentucky Broadband members stand firm in their commitment to provide the infrastructure and services to meet the ever-changing needs of individuals, families, and businesses throughout our state’s growing workforce in preparation for the jobs of the future and the careers of today.

This is reflected in our member companies commitment to diversity, inclusion and good, quality jobs.

  • Charter Communications has a workforce comprised of 11% military veterans and a diverse 46% of minorities.

  • Comcast has a team of 35% women, 44% employees of color and has made a commitment to hire 21,000 veterans, military spouses and National Guard and Reserve members from 2015 to 2

Strengthening Communities

To deliver service to all Kentuckians, KBCA members are committed to investing in infrastructure and affordable broadband.

  • Charter’s low-cost internet service, Spectrum Internet Assist, was launched in 2017 to bring high-speed internet into the homes of families and seniors for a reduced rate. Spectrum Internet Assist delivers the fastest Internet speeds in the nation for a low-cost broadband program (30/4 Mbps). It’s all part of Charter’s efforts to ensure more Americans have access to the technology and tools they need to participate fully in today’s economy.

  • Through Internet Essentials, Comcast provides thousands of low-income Kentuckians with access to advanced communications in their homes.

  • Because access to infrastructure is just part of maximizing high-speed broadband, the members of KBCA are providing and partnering with communities across the state to address digital literacy programs to equip and prepare lifetime learners, of all ages, for opportunity.

In addition, the security and integrity of your personal information is a priority for KBCA members. This commitment to privacy is reflected through options to reject data sharing to transparent privacy policies, all designed to  put you in greater control of your own personal data. Our members are also working at the federal level to encourage federal policymakers to address the need for strong and consistent consumer privacy protections that are standardized and enforced for all online services and social networks to protect you and your family.
